Seraphim Nights – Storm: 13th Floor New Song Of The Day
Today sees the artistry of Seraphim Nights released for the world to explore. Seraphim Nights is a songwriter and recording artist whose music shines light into dark, vulnerable spaces. Her work traces the journey from heartbreak and loss toward meaning, resilience, and deeper human connection.
Here is the blurb with more:
Rooted in cinematic atmosphere and intimate storytelling, her songs explore what it means to let go of external validation and rediscover the spiritual richness already within — in love, in nature, in family, in the quiet strength of simply being alive.
Through shadow and awakening, her music honours the beauty of becoming more human: softer, stronger, and more awake to what truly matters.
Her debut body of work, CERCA TROVA marks the beginning of this unfolding.
Seraphim Nights is the nom de plume of Jenny Freed, an Auckland based singer-songwriter, actor and mother. The first single released to all streaming platforms is Storm.
The song is an apt calling card, capturing all of the aching romanticism and world weary fortitude of the album. All of the songs were produced, arranged and mixed by Paul McLaney (Gramsci, The Impending Adorations).
Every fortnight another song will be made available to the streaming giants, entreats and invitations to come explore the CERCA TROVA album in its entirety via the artist friendly Bandcamp platform on Jenny’s 50th birthday; today, February 23rd
The following article about Jenny’s journey to Seraphim Nights has been penned by acclaimed writer Kathryn Burnett:
‘What Have I Got to Show For My Time?’
Perhaps it’s just my imagination but more and more people seem to be asking – what am I doing with my life?
This universal question was definitely part of our collective musing during the Covid pandemic but it’s not new. It has always been asked by those approaching, or in the throes of, mid-life. And is often quickly followed by the somewhat sobering – what I have I done with my life? Or its blunter first cousin – is this it?
It is this theme that can be found deftly explored in Jenny Freed’s haunting “All of This” – one of the atmospheric tracks found in her debut album “Seraphim Nights – Cerca Trova.”
The Celtic tinged song asks, “what have I got to show for my time?”
Which is an excellent question and one worthy of yearly consideration. Existentialism, it’s everywhere and Freed’s song answers it beautifully.
Her album could not be more timely.
