Not My Wife – Home Alone: 13th Floor New Song Of The Day

Inspired by the push and pull of a blurred relationship, Not My Wife’s debut track ‘Home Alone’ blends haunting vocals, harmonic motifs, 80s synth, and an arrogant, metallic bass that unapologetically sets the tone for a series of single releases throughout 2026.

Here is the blurb with more:

Produced by Sean Genockey (NewDad, Shame, The Black Crowes), the track is defined by the contrast between expansive passages and a muscular rhythm section.

Singer and lyricist Olivia Mercer said:

“I wanted to tell a story about the intensity of coexisting in an ambiguous relationship and how all-consuming it can be. Home Alone is about the gap between the narrative that forms in your head, and the reality of the situation you’re in. These relationships are addictive, often embarrassing, and something many of us can relate to.”

Recounting the synthetic sounds of The Cure and Kate Bush, and mixing them with an antipodean upbringing through the likes of Spacey Jane and Lorde, the band has found their match with producer Sean Genockey who honed their sound at Le Rouquet (Limeuil, France) and Metropolis Studios (London, UK). The production of the band’s first track was also supported by engineer Jake Stainer (Wet Leg, David Gilmour, NewDad).

Hailing from New Zealand and forming in London, Not My Wife have performed sold out shows for the past 18 months to a devoted and doting fan base across the capital. The band is comprised of Olivia Mercer (vocals), Sophie Howe (keyboard), Andrew Roberts (bass), Cam Meads (drums), and Josef Shadwell (guitar).

Home Alone is now available on all platforms here.
